Privacy & Cookies Policy
Effective: 22 July 2026
Premier Taxis Salisbury ("we", "us", "our") is a licensed local taxi and private hire operator based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you book a ride, use your account on our booking dashboard, or simply visit our website, and what we do with it.
Information we collect
When you book a taxi
To arrange and carry out your journey, we collect the details you provide on the booking form: your name, phone number, email address, pickup and drop-off addresses (including any unit/flat number, what3words address, flight number or terminal/dock you add), your requested date and time, passenger and luggage numbers, and any notes you leave for the driver (for example, a child seat or accessibility need).
When you create or use an account
If you book online, an account is set up automatically using the name, phone and email you provided, so you can log in later to see your bookings, track a driver live during an active ride, and message them directly. You can update your name, phone or email at any time from "My profile" — we keep a short record of what changed and when, for the same licensing reasons described under Retention below.
Payment information
Card payments are handled directly by SumUp, our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number. What we keep is the fare amount, the payment method (card, cash, or bank transfer) and the date it was taken, so we can issue receipts and keep proper business records.
Communications
If you contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp, we may keep a record of that conversation to help resolve your query and for training/quality purposes.
How we use your information
- To arrange, dispatch and carry out the taxi journey you've requested.
- To contact you about your booking — confirmations, a driver being assigned, a driver setting off, and any changes.
- To take payment and issue receipts.
- To meet our licensing obligations as a hackney carriage/private hire operator (see Retention below).
- To keep our service safe and reliable — for example, investigating a complaint, a lost item, or a dispute about a fare.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to actually run the service, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job:
- SumUp — processes card payments when you pay by card; they receive your payment details directly, not us.
- Google — when you start typing a pickup or drop-off address, our own server (not your browser) asks Google's Places service for matching addresses, so it can suggest one to you. This happens server-to-server, so Google does not set any cookies in your browser for this.
- OpenStreetMap / OSRM — used to draw the road route and calculate distance/time on the live tracking map during an active ride, and to work out fixed-fare/metered estimates.
- Our email provider, for sending booking confirmations and account emails from our own mailbox.
We may also disclose information where we're required to by law, or to Wiltshire Council or the police in connection with a licensing or safety investigation involving a specific journey.
Cookies and similar technology
We keep this simple — we don't currently run any advertising or analytics trackers on this website. The cookie banner you see when you first visit lets you choose:
- Essential — always on, and the only category actually in use today. This is the strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you logged in to your account dashboard (if you tick "Remember me", it lasts longer; otherwise it clears when you close your browser). You can block this in your browser's own settings instead, but the account dashboard won't be able to keep you signed in if you do.
- Analytics & performance — not in use yet. This category exists so your choice is ready in advance for if/when we add basic analytics to understand how the site is used; nothing is collected under it today regardless of which way you choose.
Two other things worth knowing about, neither of which is a cookie:
- Theme preference — your choice of light/dark mode and accent colour, saved locally in your browser (not sent to us) so the site remembers your preference next time.
- Map tiles — if you view the live driver-tracking map during an active ride, your browser loads map images directly from OpenStreetMap's servers, which — like any website request — can see your IP address.
You can change your cookie choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which brings the banner back.
How long we keep it
As a licensed hackney carriage/private hire operator, we're required to keep certain journey and driver records for licensing and safeguarding purposes, and we keep booking history and the associated activity log (who did what, and when) indefinitely for this reason, and to resolve any later dispute about a fare or a journey. Where you ask us to delete or correct something and we're not required to keep it, we will.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- See what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong or out of date — you can also do this yourself from "My profile" in your account.
- Delete your information, where we're not required to keep it for licensing purposes as described above.
- Stop sending you optional status emails ("driver assigned"/"driver on the way") — you can turn these off from "My profile", or via the unsubscribe link in those emails. You'll still receive the booking confirmation itself, since that's a receipt for what you've booked rather than a marketing message.
To ask about any of the above, contact us using the details below.
Children
Our booking service is for adults arranging their own transport (or transport for a child alongside them). We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we start using a new supplier. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
